Jeanne Marie Acceturo is a teacher and the Media Academy lead at El Cerrito High School, where she oversees the campus FM radio station KECG.
A graduate of Cal Poly San Luis Obispo, Acceturo got her start in radio at Cal Poly’s KCPR where she served as a DJ, fundraising and promotions director and, eventually, general manager.
Acceturo would go on to work at a station in nearby Grover Beach before leaving radio to work in a number of other jobs.
In 2013, radio pulled her back. She began to volunteer at UC Berkeley’s KALX. That would lead to positions at KALW and KQED, where she serves as an announcer/operator and handles numerous off-air tasks.
Her teaching credential includes a certification for the Career Technical Education pathway, a program that allows high school students to complete coursework while obtaining relevant career experience.
