Rebecca Corral is an Alameda native known for her many years as the midday news anchor at KCBS.
Corral began her broadcast journalism career in 1979 as a television production assistant and later as a reporter.
Her jump to radio came in 1988 when KCBS news director Charlie Seraphin hired her as a reporter.
Corral moved to the midday anchor position at KCBS in the 1990s, “soloing” in between the morning drive and afternoon drive shifts that were staffed by two-person anchor teams. She won awards both locally and nationally, including from the Associated Press Television & Radio Association and the California Teachers Association’s John Swett Award for Media Excellence.
Corral retired in 2022.
