Don Sherwood billed himself as the “World’s Greatest Disc-Jockey.” His legendary morning show on Golden West’s 560 KSFO had monster ratings in the ’50s and ’60s. For several years, the Bay Area Radio Hall of Fame’s Don Sherwood Award winner was selected by the public as a way to honor the most popular Bay Area on-air personalities. In 2026, the Bay Area Radio Museum and Hall of Fame Advisory Board replaced the Don Sherwood Award with the Bay Area Audiocaster of the Year Award, opening eligibility to all Bay Area-based creators of audio content.
