A native of Oakland, Kevin and his family are longtime residents of Alameda. Prior to becoming an educator, Kevin spent 20-plus years working in radio at KJAZ, KYOS (Merced), KFRC, MAGIC 61, and K-101.
Gorham graduated from San Francisco State University, with a BA from the Broadcast Communication Arts department. In 1983, he landed an internship at KJAZ, working with Jerry Dean and Stan Dunn as the Morning News Anchor. In 1985, Kevin was hired by KFRC in their Promotions Department supporting all dayparts including his morning show idol, Dr. Don Rose. When KFRC transitioned to Magic 61, Kevin produced their morning show with Carter B. Smith.
In 1989 Kevin went to K-101 to become the producer for the Don Bleu Morning Show, also working with Terry McGovern and Ryan Seacrest.
While working at K-101, Kevin began his teaching career in East Oakland, then transitioned to the Alameda Unified School District.
In 2016, as a teacher at Encinal High School, Kevin arranged for the Federal Communications Commission to award the 96.1 FM frequency to the school district. He then developed an on-campus radio station. 96. FM KJTZ is a student-run radio station where students learn to create and deliver on-air content. Gorham’s students also develop the radio station’s website as well as write, produce, and record weekly podcasts.
Gorham served Encinal High School as the AP Government instructor, Radio Broadcast Journalism Instructor, Athletic Director, and Leadership Teacher.
