Jane Riley spent 30 years at KCBS both on-air and in management. San Francisco Chronicle columnist Herb Caen referred to her as “The Queen of KCBS”, where she produced the long-running Bay Area Woman series, interviewing more than 2,000 women in all walks of life from the late ‘60s through the ‘70s. She served as executive assistant to the VP and general manager of KCBS and is well-remembered for cooking and delivering Thanksgiving dinner to the news staff working holiday shifts.
She served as President of American Women in Radio and Television, was a co-founder of Bay Area Women’s Roundtable and a member of Broadcast Legends. In 1986, Jane was the second woman in the history of the San Francisco Rotary Club to become a member. She died in 2014 at the age of 90.
