Holly Quan has served with distinction as a reporter and news anchor at KCBS for many years. Born and raised in Oakland, a teenaged Holly became involved in Youth News, an Oakland-based news radio magazine. She began by interviewing high school friends. In 1984, as a teen reporter, she covered the Democratic National Convention in San Francisco, where she says she got Ed Bradley, Bill Moyers and Walter Cronkite’s autographs on the same sheet of paper.
After graduating from San Francisco State University, she began her career at KQED-FM, first as a producer, then reporter and anchor. During her KQED years, Holly found herself covering the 1989 Loma Prieta earthquake and the 1991 Oakland Hills Fire. After a few years at KPIX-FM, she joined KCBS in 1997. Holly has collected numerous awards, including the Associated Press Television-Radio Association’s prestigious Reporter of the Year honor.
