KGO Radio, Oakland
Main Transmitter
1924
This view of the main transmitter of the General Electric Station appears to have been taken earlier than the previous photo, and from the opposite corner of the room. Notice the open construction of all equipment, especially the transmitting tubes mounted on the wood frame in the center. The tubes appear to be water cooled, as evidenced by the tubing coils beneath them. Also notice the panel of light bulbs atop the center cabinet. This appears to have been an early dummy antenna, later replaced by the cabinet dummy antenna seen in the previous photo.
