Clark Reid

BARHOF Inductee Clark Reid 2025

Clark Reid arrived in the Bay Area in 1988 after many years in the Kansas City market.

Over the next dozen years, Reid was heard as a show host on KKIS, KSFO/KYA-FM, Big 98, and K-101.

His break into management  came in 2000 when he took the helm as program director at big band/standards powerhouse KABL. Reid inherited an all-star lineup with BARHOF inductees across the board: Jim Lange doing mornings, Mike Cleary handling middays, and Carter B. Smith holding forth in the afternoon. He overhauled the standards format over the next six years, boosting ratings and revenue. The station won two Marconi Awards from the National Association of Broadcasters during Reid’s tenure.

Reid stayed on through KABL’s change to a talk format. He became a newscaster and traffic reporter and later was heard on KNEW and KGO.
