Chuck Waltman

Chuck Waltman is known for his lengthy tenure as chief engineer for Clear Channel’s stations in San Francisco: KMEL, KYLD, KIOI, KOSF, KISQ, KKSF and KNEW. Within the broadcast engineering community, he is widely respected for the quality of his work.

A native of Colorado, he began by working on-air in 1968, when he was 16, then switched to engineering when he was still in his 20’s.

Waltman won an award for best design and construction of a radio facility at KIMN in Denver, then moved to San Francisco in 1986. He helped design and build new studios for KSAN and KNEW. Waltman’s other local call letters include KSFO, KYA, KSOL and KABL.
