Bill Bowker is a Sonoma County broadcasting legend. The Passaic, NJ native moved to Southern California’s San Gabriel Valley in his teens and began his radio career at Ventura station KUDU on August 15, 1969–the first day of the Woodstock music festival. Bowker would spend the next ten years at Southern California stations, meeting his future wife Lavonna at one of those stations.
He was first heard on Bay Area radio in 1979, when he joined Santa Rosa station KVRE. Over the next 42 years of full-time work as a program host, program director, and music promoter, Bowker would become a beloved fixture on the North Bay music scene.
Though retired from full-time work since 2021, Bowker continues to host a weekly edition of Blues With Bowker as well as Krush Americana on “The Krush 95.9” (KRSH).
