A Philadelphia native who was raised in Southern California, Debbie Abrams spent 30 years at Santa Rosa’s KZST, mostly as fellow BARHOF inductee Brent Farris’ sidekick on the morning broadcast.
After Farris retired in September 2023, Abrams continued as the solo host of the program until her retirement in March 2026.
Abrams holds degrees from UCLA (English) and Cal State Northridge (Broadcast Journalism). Her radio career began in 1979 as a newsperson at KORV in Oroville, CA. She would hold jobs in radio news departments in Chico and Olympia, WA before returning to California for a stop in Sacramento.
In 1995, Abrams was hired at Sonoma County’s KMGG, “Magic 97”, where she did a bit of everything: newscasts, a midday show, and morning co-host.
The shift to KZST a year initially included news and public affairs duties before the lengthy run as part of the North Bay’s dominant morning show.

I hired her in the era of the “giggling co host ” where their job was to laugh at everything that the guy behind the mic said. I wanted a strong woman and At her interview she argued, told me exactly what she thought, and threw back what ever I dished out.
I hired her on the spot.
Over our 20 + years together we bickered, laughed, and each stood our ground every morning. I would love to say I never regretted a moment but that would be a lie.
