Bob began his broadcasting career in 1979 at KBLX Radio in Berkeley. He worked at KDIA Radio in Oakland in 1980 before being hired at KCBS in 1981. He has covered every kind of story in the United States, including politics, business, disasters, and crime. Bob also served as the Director of Diversity for CBS Corporation, recruiting candidates for the company’s radio and television stations. Bob has taught broadcast journalism at UC Berkeley and San Francisco State University.

He was an independent journalist on the award-winning Chauncey Bailey Project and spent eight years on the board of the National Association of Black Journalists, where he was President of the board from 2013-2015. Bob has also served as Broadcast Vice President on the SAG-AFTRA national board and has a bachelor’s degree in Broadcast Journalism from San Francisco State. Bob retired from KCBS in 2023 after working there for 42 years.
