KVVV replaced KHTT “The Heat” in March of 1993. Sacramento-based owner Fuller-Jeffrey Broadcasting had just moved the station (and co-owned KSRO) into new facilities, where modern digital equipment allowed the station to enter the world of “voice-tracking”, in which disc jockeys pre-recorded their shows and computerized playback software pulled together those tracks, music, commercials, jingles, and more.
KVVV braced itself as “Variety 92.9” and aired an Adult Contemporary format. Steve Jaxon, who’d been heard on KHTT before leaving to focus on a production business, returned to take over the morning slot.
