Marla Davies was born and raised in Pittsburgh, PA where she says she was an avid listener of the city’s legendary album-rock station WDVE and dreamed of becoming a disc jockey herself. She is best known for a nearly twenty-year stay at San Jose’s “Mix 106.5” (KEZR), where she worked with Bill Kelly, Kelly and Kline, and Jeff Pope.
Her forty-year-plus Bay Area radio career also included time at San Jose’s rock giant KOME, where she appeared in numerous dayparts while also serving as the station’s Public Affairs Director.
Davies worked as well at a lengthy list of other Bay Area stations: KOFY-FM, KOFY, KFRC, “101.7 The Fox” (KHTH), KQED-FM, KALW, and KPFA. She studied Broadcast Journalism at the University of Southern California, leading to work at Los Angeles stations KLOS and KPFK.
At the time of her induction to BARHOF, Davies was serving as Operations Manager and Program Director of KPJS-LP, a new low-power FM community radio station serving South Santa Clara County in partnership with the Poppy Jasper International Film Festival.
