BARHOF Inductee Lisa Carr 2025

Best known for delivering traffic reports on several Bay Area radio stations, Lisa Carr was a versatile performer during a career that started at the age of 19.

Born in Richmond and raised in El Sobrante, Carr attended DeAnza High School and Diablo Valley College. Her first job in radio was as a receptionist at KTIM in San Rafael. she quickly found on-air work there before leaving the Bay Area for radio jobs in Coos Bay, OR; Monterey, and Minneapolis.

Carr’s return to the Bay Area came in 1989 when Metro Traffic hired her to provide traffic reports during Alex Bennett‘s morning show on KITS (“Live 105”). Carr soon added an overnight DJ shift to her duties at Live 105 and for a time was handling both the overnight show and the morning traffic reports.

Carr’s career would include several years as a utility jock at 107.7 “The Bone” as well as a stint as the traffic reporter on KOIT’s morning broadcast. She was also heard on Fresno FM stations KJFX and KFRR , as well  Sonoma County’s KWVF (The Wolf) and KBBL (The Bull).

After taking a break from broadcasting to attend culinary school, Carr returned for a final tour of duty, working for iHeart Media to deliver news, traffic, and weather reports on several stations. Her last broadcast was on KNBR on February 29, 2024, when she rhymed her final signoff by saying, “I’m Lisa Carr on KNBR!”
