Chris Edwards

BARHOF Inductee Chris Edwards 2018

Chris Edwards had been holding down the morning shift on Miami’s WFUN when he moved across the continent,  arriving in San Francisco in the late 60’s to take a job that he considered his “golden opportunity” – which it truly was for the self-proclaimed “Big Fat Chrissy” and his legion of fans (each one of them his “Kemosabe”) on 1260 KYA.

With his ebullient personality, Chris moved effortlessly into sales and became one of the top account executives in the business, selling air time at KYA, K101, KSFO, KFRC, KKSF, KABL, KTRB and KGO before his retirement in 2011.

Edwards had many friends in the San Francisco radio community and could always be counted on to entertain them with colorful stories.

Meanwhile, he stayed close to his first love, the microphone, whether hosting the Saturday night “Chris Edwards Time Machine” on K-101 and KSFO/KYA-FM or working the amateur airwaves around the world as W6OSV.

Chris Edwards passed away in January 2014.
