In the 1960’s, Les Crane became known to KYA listeners as Johnny Raven. A few years later, he helped usher in the era of news/talk radio on KGO, using Les Crane as his radio moniker. There, he interviewed celebrities at the San Francisco nightclub known as the hungry i a few years later. Les was also a network TV talk host, going up against Johnny Carson on ABC. Les also created the “Mavis Beacon Teaches Typing” software program, was a Grammy winner for his 1971 recording of the poem “Desiderata”, and the husband of “Gilligan’s Island” TV star Tina Louise. Born Leslie Stein, he passed away in July, 2008.
