Larry Brownell, Legacy Inductee (BARHOF 2023)

BARHOF Inductee Larry Brownell 2023

Larry was a key newscaster on KYA in its Top 40 years in the ’60s, ’70’s and ’80’s, and was known for his smooth and concise delivery. Brownell, whose real name was Larry Buller, came to San Francisco from Buffalo, New York along with Bay Area Radio Hall of Famers Tommy Saunders, Russ “the Moose” Syracuse, and Gene Nelson in the early 1960’s. It was said he worked with so many different disc jockeys through the years, that he refused to learn their names. Larry continued as a newsman on KSFO into the 90’s. He passed away in August, 2004 and is survived by seven children.
