JACK SMITH

JACK SMITH KLIV’s News Director is 29 years old, and started his news career at the ripe age of 14, with a weekly home town newspaper in Nevada. He attended Brigham Young University, and while in college was a correspondent for the Salt Lake City Tribune, Associated Press, and United Press International.

Jack won the All American Sports Editors Award from the University of Minnesota in 1955, for his column in the college newspaper. He won the Voice of California Award, at the California State Fair in 1961, and the Golden Mike Award from the Nevada Broadcasters Assn. for the best radio sports program in 1959.

Jack was senior news editor with Xtra-News, Los Angeles for two years. Prior to that, he was news director for KSBY-TV in San Luis Obispo, Calif.

Jack’s news knowledge has captured the radio listeners in the Santa Clara Valley with his accurate, up to the second and complete coverage of the local news in the South Bay Area.
