KZNB came into being with a call letter change on November 14, 2014. The station had been known as KTOB since 1961 and was purchased by Abel De Luna’s Moon Broadcasting in 2001. Ownership shifted to California Broadcasting Company, led by Ambrosio Vigil, in 2011. De Luna’s company re-acquired KZNB in 2022.

KZNB has billed itself as La Musikera, telling listeners that its goal is “to be the leading radio station in the Hispanic community of California, promoting Mexican music, culture and identity through authentic, informative and entertaining programming.”
De Luna’s lengthy career in Mexican music production, promotion and distribution is part of the story. De Luna’s Sonoma County stations, including Santa Rosa-licensed KRRS (formerly KVRE), favor local on-air talent over syndicated programming.
