
Born in Sacramento, Tony Tremayne was a popular personality on “The Boss of the Bay” KYA in its 1960’s heyday. He worked alongside such greats as Bill Drake, Tom Donahue, Bobby Mitchell, Tommy Saunders and “Emperor” Gene Nelson.
Tremayne switched to reporting news for KYA in 1962 and continued until his retirement in 1988. His real name was Mel Fritze.
He began his Bay Area radio career in 1943 at Oakland’s KROW, later working at KTIM and KSFO before joining KYA in 1959.
Tony passed away in 2004 at age 81.
