Rich Walcoff covered sports at KGO from 1984 until 2016, when he was let go along with numerous Cumulus colleagues as the troubled company cut costs. By then, he was the station’s sports director and morning sports anchor.
Walcoff also co-hosted KGO’s San Francisco 49ers pre and postgame shows as well as Oakland Raiders pre-and-post game programs on KSFO.
Walcoff got his start in radio the early ’70s at the University of Connecticut, where he did play-by-play for the university’s sports teams.
Doing his part to help young people, Rich also served on the Board of Directors for Side-by-Side Youth Services in San Anselmo for several years.
