Narsai David

The long-time food and wine editor for KCBS, Narsai David was raised in Turlock. He attended the University of California, Berkeley. During college he supported himself by working at Hy’s Restaurant in Oakland. A few years after college he took a job at the groundbreaking Potluck Restaurant in Berkeley, eventually becoming a partner. 

In 1970, Narsai David began a catering business. Among his first clients was rock impresario Bill Graham, for whom Narsai catered events for numerous major bands. He catered many other special events, including for the British Royal Family on their visits to San Francisco.

Besides owning and operating his own East Bay restaurant, Narsai’s, he owned a vineyard in the Napa Valley and contributed his talent to hundreds of charity events.

Narsai David was a founding board member of the Berkeley Repertory Theater and served on the board of directors of the Berkeley Community Fund.

Narsai David died in 2024 at age 87.
