Edward Edison joined Robert Hammett in 1955 to create the important Bay Area engineering consulting firm Hammett & Edison.
Hammett & Edison began with a focus on broadcast station coverage, measuring and improving signal coverage, while developing several fields of specific expertise, including frequency allocation, transmitting site selection, and optimized antenna design. They pioneered techniques still in use across the broadcast and wireless communications industries.
Edison was an electrical engineering major at the University of Nebraska and began his career during World War II with RCA.
Along with Hammett, Edison retired in 1988 and the two were honored with the Engineering Achievement Award from the National Association of Broadcasters in 1992. The firm they founded is still located in Sonoma County.
Edward Edison died in 2009 at age 89.
