Jack Perry holds the distinction of having served as production director at both of San Jose’s album rock giants: KOME and KSJO during their glory years from the late 1970s until the early ‘90s. Fans remember the brash imaging that drove both stations’ on-air sound.
Perry would then spend twenty years with CBS as Creative Services Director, creating imaging and commercials for KCBS and KRQR, among other stations.
Perry graduated from El Dorado High School in Placerville, CA before attending Oregon’s Reed College. HIs radio career began in Provo, UT before a return to Northern California for a job at Woodland’s KSFM in 1977, during its freeform “Earth Rock 102” era.
KOME hired him away in 1979 to fill on-air and production director roles. In 1983, he shifted to cross-town rival KSJO to handle the same roles. A 1992 move to San Francisco saw Perry become production director at KRQR and KLLC, a role which into the title of Group Creative Services Director for all of CBS Radio’s San Francisco stations. Perry held that job until 2012.
