Bobby Dale, born Robert Dale Bastiansen in Glendive, MN, was called “the disc jockey’s disc jockey” by no less an authority than Bay Area radio legend Don Sherwood.
Dale had made a name for himself in his native Midwest and blew through Los Angeles before arriving in San Francisco. His voice was heard on many stations, including a memorably offbeat overnight show on KSFO. His other Bay Area call letters were KEWB, KFRC, KSFO, KSAN, KKCY, KTIM and KOFY, and after “retiring” from commercial broadcasting, Dale was often heard on non-commercial KUSF.
Bobby Dale died in 2001 at the age of 69.
ADDITIONAL EXHIBITS:

I remember one time on KKCY there was about a ten minute skip on an album and Dale came back on and said he was sorry. “I had to go take a shit. After saying that he said he would probably get suspended by the FCC. He was off the air for about a month, when he came back on not much changed he was still a thorn in the station’s side and the FCC’s. I enjoyed the hell out of him when I moved to Marin and he was on KTIM.
