KLIV Radio 1590, San Jose
“Norman” Window Sticker
Circa 1968
Long before it became ubiquitous in the radio industry, San Jose’s popular Top 40 outlet, KLIV, had the cars of virtually every teenager from Sunnyvale to Santa Cruz covered with one or another variation of the “Norman” decal shown above.
Designed originally by KLIV’s Mikel Hunter Herrington (a/k/a Captain Mikey), snooty-nosed surfer “Norman” became the station’s mascot, appearing on window stickers in a variety of colors, as well as being featured on the KLIV music surveys that were horded by local kids.
ORIGINAL SIZE: About 5 inches diameter.
