KJNV came into being in October 2026 when the non-profit religious broadcaster Educational Media Foundation closed a $2 million deal to acquire the former KBAY from Connoisseur Media.
Federal Communications Commission records showed the license-holder to be the Association for Community Education, Inc., an affiliated subsidiary network of the Educational Media Foundation (EMF). The Association for Community Education was acquired by EMF in 2024 and was the longtime operator of Radio Nueva Vida, a  Spanish-language Christian radio network.
The KJNV signal, transmitted from atop Coyote Peak on the south edge of San Jose, would give EMF a significant improvement in coverage area for its Spanish-language Christian content.
