The 1954 Pacific Bell telephone book for San Francisco included these listings under “Radio Broadcasting Companies & Stations.” Under ‘C’ is a listing for “Capt. John E. Carnahan, Radio Advertising and Lecture,” while KGYW is listed — although it is located in Vallejo. KPIX is, of course, not a radio station (it is channel five on television), and KWID is the shortwave radio station operated by The Associated Broadcasters, which owns KSFO at this time.
