KKIS 99 Radio, Pittsburg
Johnny Van and Larry Ickes
Circa December 1966
A photograph from the December 13, 1966, edition of the K-KIS “Top 33 On 99” newspaper-survey, which combined news about the Contra Costa Top 40 station, its personalities and the pop music scene, wrapped around a listing of the week’s biggest hit records.
The caption accompanying the photo read:
K-KIS PLAYBOYS JOHNNY VAN (left) and LARRY ICKES pose for our RADIO 990 staff photographer, AL TADDEO, at a recent dance and show emcee’d by K-KIS DJ’s. “L.I. THE SHY GUY” is heard daily Monday through Saturday from 4 to 8 PM on #1 K-KIS. JOHNNY VAN, now with GOLDEN STAR PRODUCTIONS, holds down the Saturday night 6 to 12 slot, and purveys the best in Golden Oldies and K-KIS KLASSICS for a solid 6 hours every Sunday night at 6 PM. Keep it on Kay-Kis for “more music, more often” 7 days a week. |
