Santa Clara Valley native Lee Hammer received his degree in Radio-Television-Film from San Jose State University and first earned a broadcasting paycheck during the news/talk era at KXRX in San Jose.
Lee worked as a news editor and talk show producer at KXRX and continued his behind-the-scenes work during a 14-year stint at KCBS, serving as a news editor and producer.
He moved from KCBS to KNBR and sister station KTCT in 1998. A lifelong sports fan, Hammer produced and engineered Stanford football and San Francisco Giants baseball radio broadcasts, and produced Oakland Raiders football and San Francisco 49ers football radio broadcasts.
Over the 25 years he spent with the San Francisco cluster of stations owned by Susquehanna and then Cumulus, Lee would earn a series of promotions. His portfolio included roles as Program Director at KNBR, KGO, and KSFO while continuing to be directly involved in sports broadcasts (notably the San Francisco Giants) produced by those stations.
