John Evans may be best known as a news anchor, but his skills are far broader. He’s also been a reporter, news director, program director, DJ, and a nationally syndicated radio show host.
Evans came to San Francisco in 1979 via Los Angeles (KNX-FM) and Seattle (KISW) and worked as a news anchor at KYA, KMEL, KFRC, KRQR, K-101, and KPIX-FM. He took a break from news in 1996 and became a show host (DJ), working at KFOG, KKSF, the Jones Radio Network-Smooth Jazz Format, and KDFC.
John returned to news in 2009 to anchor the late night/early morning all-news hours at KCBS. He retired in 2022, having won the Don Sherwood Award for three consecutive years as the Bay Area’s most popular radio personality.
