BARHOF Inductee Hoyt Smith 2016

Hoyt Smith wrapped up his Bay Area radio career in 2017 after a lengthy stretch as morning host on classical music station KDFC, where he started in 1999.

Smith’s voice was well-known to Bay Area listeners after stops at K-101, KNBR, KYUU, KLOK-FM, and Smooth Jazz KKSF. Hoyt’s warm voice and subtle sense of humor were the key to his success. He’s one of the most versatile radio hosts in the business, with rock, pop, and jazz among the formats he served before becoming an integral part of the success of KDFC’s classical music format.

A Bay Area native, Hoyt Smith retired to his dream home in Sonoma County after his retirement from KDFC.
