An actual rock star who became a radio star, Greg Kihn was born in Baltimore and moved to the Bay Area at 25 to pursue his dream of making it as a musician.
He put together the Greg Kihn Band, and proceeded to record hit after hit from the mid-’70s through the ’80s. He played major arenas and appeared on Saturday Night Live.
In 1996, Kihn joined KUFX as morning show host. He held the position until 2012 while also pursuing a parallel career as a short-story writer and continuing to perform with his band.
Greg Kihn died in 2024 at the age of 75.
