Above are two present-day views (Thumbnails 1 and 2) of the art deco KSFO transmitter building and its rooftop tower in San Francisco. The room which once housed the KWID and KWIX shortwave transmitters is now a storage room. The former shortwave antenna field is now a parking lot for a rendering plant.

The interior photograph (Thumbnail 3) is taken from the same viewpoint as the 1942 image of the Western Electric transmitter. Seen is the station’s current Nautel transmitter and the night phasor. (A new tower was constructed to the east of the main tower, allowing KSFO to operate directionally with 5 kW at night.)
