Isabelle Lemon was director of promotions at KNBR during the station’s glory years in the 1970s and 1980s. While the station’s on-air talent lineup was formidable, Lemon was responsible for helping boost the station to the forefront locally. She served as the creative and organizational force behind listener-friendly events such as the “KNBR Good Times Parade” and numerous charity events.
A native of Modesto, Lemon is also remembered as the person behind perhaps the single most-recognizable bit of visual branding in Bay Area radio history: the “blue plate” California vehicle license plate bearing the characters”KNBR 68″.
Isabelle Lemon died in 2026 at age 89.
