Isabelle Lemon was director of promotions at KNBR during the station’s glory years in the 1970’s and 1980’s. While the station’s on-air talent was formidable, Lemon was responsible for helping boost the station to the forefront locally. She served as the creative and organizational force behind listener-friendly events such as the KNBR Good Times Parade and numerous charity events.
Lemon is also remembered as the person behind perhaps the single most-recognizable bit of visual branding in Bay Area radio history: the “blue plate” California vehicle license plate bearing the characters”KNBR 68″.
