We’re announcing the launch of a new award: The Bay Area Audiocaster of the Year, presented by the Bay Area Radio Museum and Hall of Fame.
The award aims to recognize “the people’s choice” among those who provide audio entertainment or information in any way: terrestrial radio, streaming audio, podcasting, satellite radio and more. The one requirement: the recipient must be “Based In The Bay”–meaning the program or personality has a clear connection to the San Francisco Bay Area.
The public is invited to submit recommendations using the form (below). The BARHOF Operating Committee will review submissions and select a final group of nominees to appear on the ballot. Balloting will be open to the public via the Bay Area Radio Museum website, beginning on May 1, 2026 and concluding on July 1, 2026.
“The world of audio is changing,” said BARHOF Operating Committee member Steve Kushman. “People are ‘tuning in’ to their favorite content in many ways, and although we preserve Bay Area radio history here, we want to recognize the history that’s being made right now.”
The Bay Area Audiocaster of the Year Award replaces the longstanding Don Sherwood Award, which was limited to terrestrial broadcasters appearing on stations licensed to cities within the nine-county Bay Area market.
