The Bay Area Radio Museum is pleased to announce the return of the Don Sherwood Award. Named after the legendary San Francisco native who proclaimed himself “The World’s Greatest Disc Jockey”, the award is voted upon by radio fans. In the spirit of the late, great Sherwood himself, broadcasters are encouraged to shamelessly promote their own candidacies.
Online balloting opens on April 1, 2025 and will close at 11:59 PM Pacific Time on May 15, 2025. Voters are encouraged to “stuff the ballot box” for their favorite broadcasters, although we do have a limit: one vote per email address per day.
Official criteria for the Don Sherwood Award, as adopted by the Bay Area Radio Museum/Bay Area Radio Hall of Fame Board of Directors:
To be eligible for the Don Sherwood Award, an individual must be regularly appearing on locally-originated broadcasts on a radio station licensed to the San Francisco Bay Area (Alameda County, Contra Costa County, Marin County, Napa County, San Francisco County, San Mateo County, Santa Clara County, Solano County, and Sonoma County).
The winner of the 2025 Don Sherwood Award will be announced by the Bay Area Radio Museum after the close of balloting and will be introduced to an adoring public at the annual “Radio Day by the Bay” event at Radio Central in July.
