KPO-KGO Verification Card

September 23, 1937

KGO-KPO QSL Card (Image)

A verification card, or “QSL” in radio lingo, was a prized trophy for distance listeners in the early days of radio, confirming reception of a station from hundreds or even thousands of miles away.

This QSL verified that Richard Wright pulled in Oakland’s KGO (then at 790 kc. on the AM dial) at his listening post in Chicago.

ORIGINAL SIZE: 4 inches x 6 inches.
SOURCE: Richard Wright Collection, Bay Area Radio Museum.
