In spirited voting that saw nearly 18,000 votes cast among 30 nominees, Brian Sussman of 560 KSFO’s Morning Show is the listeners’ choice to receive the second annual Sherwood Award as the most popular personality on Bay Area radio.

Brian began working at KSFO as a guest host in 2002 and moved into a full-time role at the station as its evening talk host in 2003. Following the departure of Lee Rodgers (BARHOF 2009), Brian ascended to the lead role on KSFO’s morning program in 2010, where he continues to host one of the most popular conservative talk shows in the nation. He currently hosts the program alongside Katie Green.

Brian is also well known to local audiences for his work as a weather person on KNTV (Channel 11) and KPIX (Channel 5), which earned him several Emmy awards and “Best Weathercast” trophies from the Radio Television News Directors Association (RTNDA).

Off the air, Brian is the founder of Brian’s Kids, which spotlights foster children in need of adoption. Through the organization’s efforts, more than 400 foster kids have been adopted — including Brian’s own son.

Brian Sussman follows previous Sherwood Award recipient Chris Jackson of 98.5 K-FOX, who received the first-ever award in 2017. The award is named for Don Sherwood, the legendary “World’s Greatest Disc Jockey,” who was elected to the Bay Area Radio Hall of Fame as a member of its first class in 2006.

This year’s Sherwood Award will be presented on Saturday, October 13, during the annual Bay Area Radio Hall of Fame celebration at the Basque Cultural Center in South San Francisco.
