* — Cal students Baer and Kozberg volunteered their school’s 10-watt campus station to serve as the A’s flagship when team owner Charles O. Finley was unable to secure a contract with a commercial outlet. By May, Finley reached an agreement with Oakland’s KNEW, ending KALX’s improbable run as the most unusual flagship station in modern baseball history. Baer later played a significant role in the operation of another Major League Baseball team located in San Francisco.
